Best Buds T-shirt Spotted in South Beach

South Beach Loves Crooked Monkey’s Funny t-shirts. Last year, I was walking down Lincoln Road and some girl was wearing the Don’t waste my daytime minutes t-shirt.

And just this past week, when I was in Miami, I was riding an elevator and in walks a guy wearing the Best Buds T-shirt. Here’s the conversation that ensued:
Me: Nice shirt.
Him: Thanks.
Me: That’s one of my shirts.
Him: Actually, I got it from my brother.
Me: I meant, I own the company that makes those shirts, Crooked Monkey.
Him: Oh, cool. I love this shirt. Nice work. Congratulations on your success
Me: Thanks. Wear it in good health.

My cousin’s Crooked Monkey illustration

I was in Miami last week and, among other things, got to see my cousin. She’s a budding entrepreneur–at the age of 12 she started her first magazine. When I launched Crooked Monkey she told me she wasn’t accepting any advertisers because she hated how ads take up the first 40 pages of most magazines. By the age of 14 she got smart and asked if I’d advertise.

She just recently got Adobe Illustrator, and made the above illustration. Fantastic.
